Sales of the PeopleForBikes-colored Boda Boda will support bicycle infrastructure
BOULDER, CO — PeopleForBikes and Yuba Bicycles have partnered to launch a limited edition Boda Boda cargo bike to raise money for bicycling infrastructure.
The 50 Boda Bodas will feature PeopleForBikes colors and branding so that bicyclists can show their support for improving bicycling in the United States. One hundred dollars from the purchase of each $999 bike will go to the PeopleForBikes Community Grant Program.
The Community Grant Program provides funding for projects that leverage federal dollars and build bike paths and rail trails, mountain bike trails, bike parks, BMX facilities, and large-scale bicycle advocacy initiatives. The program has awarded 272 grants to non-profit organizations and local governments in 49 states and the District of Columbia, investing nearly $2.5 million and leveraging $650 million in public and private funding.
“PeopleForBikes does incredible work and it is essential to the development of bicycling in the United States,” says Benjamin Sarrazin, founder and owner of Yuba Bicycles. “This special edition PeopleForBikes Boda Boda is a great way for bike shops to engage their customers in a conversation about PeopleForBikes and their work on behalf of the bicycling movement.”
“Bicycle businesses like Yuba who go above and beyond their commitment to improving bicycling are key to the movement’s success,” said Charlie Cooper, vice president of membership and development at PeopleForBikes. “Cargo bikes like the PeopleForBikes Boda Boda help improve the everyday bicycling experience for riders.”
Yuba and PeopleForBikes will officially launch the bike at the Sea Otter Classic in April, where people can enter to win one. The bikes are available for preorders now and on sale May 1 at Yuba dealers and at yubabikes.com.
