I’ve been through a number of other cargo eBikes from other brands and leaned towards the cheaper hub-drive bikes just from a cost perspective. Unfortunately, every one of them has had an issue…one of them had both batteries go bad and the other had the hub drive completely fail, stranding my kids and me miles from home.
After the last experience we saved up and bit the bullet on what we knew would be a much better, much more reliable bike. Our Spicy Curry has not disappointed and we’ve used it for just about everything. A typical Sunday morning for us is jumping on the SC with both kids (2 and 4) on the back. We’ll ride to breakfast, stop at a park, cruise by the farmer’s market, then stop for groceries before heading home. This is often a ~15 mile trip and we’ll be loaded up with kids, two paniers, and a bread basket worth of groceries. Despite the heavy load, handling remains stable and we often arrive home with 65-70% battery life remaining. We’ve only had the bike in the cold/rainy months…can’t wait for summer!

If you can, you should. I’ve had the spicy curry for a few months now and the experience with my two kids has been priceless. They love it, I love it, everyone who sees it loves it.
I’m 6’6″ and with the 500mm seatpost you can purchase through Yubas website in combination with angling the stem all the way up is close enough to perfect for me that I’m very happy with the size.

I did get 2015 Spicy Curry used from bike shop owner.
After 7 years i did get new motor and battery. I am pleased how easy was to get spare parts.
This is the best thing I’ve ever purchased for transportation.
I even gave up my personal car.
There was no hill I couldn’t climb! Range is long enough to have couple hours of fun and return home.
Rain or shine. Empty streets during Covid was a bonus. I owned the roads!
All the shopping done with Yuba.
There is no need for car insurance, nor driver’s license. No fuel to burn.
I am 61 years old. Before getting this bike I didn’t ride regular bike much, worrying about my heart rate.
I had my wife and her sister running as passengers. So much fun. We felt like children again!

I absolutely love this bike! I’ve practically replaced my car with it, between biking the kids to school and around town, grocery shopping, and other things. The only regret I have is that I didn’t get the one with suspension, because it can be pretty rough when going over bumps, but really, that’s mostly a small issue for a bike designed for streets. It was definitely worth the splurge!

Replacing so many car trips with this bike and the kids love riding in it.

My husband was on the fence about spending so much money on a bike. But then our bike trailer (which my kids were outgrowing) got a flat tire and he was taking our only car for a weekend away. So I convinced him it was time. He and I are both loving the bike! I wasnât sure about the e-assist but it makes riding fun and I donât think twice about going on a long ride w the kids on the back. I feel safer going through city intersections knowing I can put the battery power up if needed. Itâs a car replacement for sureâŠwe tried a couple different kinds and liked the way this rode better, plus it is lighter so I could lift it if needed. Just wish it wasnât so expensive, but cheaper bikes = cheaper components.

I made it home from buying the Spicy Curry in half an hour, when it would have taken twenty minutes by car. This thing definitely can get some speed. It can also tow a double chariot type stroller, so you could carry up to four people, or two kids and a bunch of space for cargo on the back (like two kids bikes plus two kids, lunch, sunscreen, whatever extras you need). I actually liked it with the off brand trailer attached as it seemed to stabilize the bike and lower the center of gravity. It’s also a unique enough bike that I feel it would deter theives. Battery is easily charged, removed, etc. I’m not a biker, so not the best of shape and I can ride this thing easily. Make sure to take a refresher course in bike riding if you are like me, because the bike is so easy to ride that you may find yourself going faster than you thought possible. The only issue I have with the bike is shock absorbency. I couldn’t take this beauty off road, which is a bummer. It’s amazing in every other way; thus the four stars.

My wife and I live in a remote small town (55,000) in Arizona and live with just one minivan. I bought the Spicy Curry, complete with front basket, side boards, and To-Go bags to run errands around town. It even easily fits into our minivan (after easily removing the front tire) so that I have a ride home after dropping the car off for service. You can easily see from all the other reviews just how useful this bike is for errands, but the most awesome part is just how much fun it is to ride!
Rebecca NN –
Just so much fun with the kids or to get to work. I feel like I went Cadillac and have no regrets.
Gillian Quigley –
I feel so lucky to be able to afford this bike and all our awesome addons. We have dropped our kids to school every day rain or sun and noone can stop smiling. Ok ok once everyone is seated.
We love it and feel grateful to own one thanks for thinking of everything Yuba!
Winona Bateman –
LOVE this bike. My seven year old is psyched to hop on even in cold weather for the 5 mile ride to school. It’s fun and easy and can carry a load of groceries, work stuff and my kiddo and her school stuff. It’s been a game changer.
Greg jeter –
Love this bike. Iâve owned it now for a couple months and have put 260 miles on it. Itâs an amazing grocery getter and a fun wonderful bike for just hopping on and going for a spin. I can get a full basket of groceries on the bike with ease. My cat loves riding in the bread basket! I installed the optional cargo /flatbed extensions and built my own light weight saddle bags for packing the groceries on.
It really is amazing how stable this bike is when loaded down. Everything works seamlessly, the shifting, breaks, electrical components, and itâs a head turner. Everyone wants to know about this bike. My wife bought more of a traditional e-bike and we go for rides together all the time. Itâs a wonderful way to get out and ride and to get back in shape. I love that you have to peddle! Yes it gives you as much or as little help has you want, but you have to peddle. It will climb any hill you throw at it. The only negative thing Iâll say about it, is the front end can be a little stiff over bumps. I live in a small town with poor roads and it can be a little harsh over some of the worst roads, but this is by no means a deal breaker.
It a fantastic bike!

Life-changing purchase. Do it — you won’t regret adding one to your quiver (or driveway!)`

We bought the Spicy Curry to replace a car, using it for school drop offs and weekend trips with the kids (2, one in a Yepp Maci seat). Kids love it and we find it easy enough to power up the many hills in our area even when laden with passengers and baggage. And the pop top cover add on means we can use it year round rain or shine.

I didn’t know I could love a bike so much. I used to drive twice a day to schlep two kids to two different daycares. Since getting this bike, I don’t drive on weekdays anymore. I also started getting groceries on the Spicy Curry and was delighted to find I could fit 4-6 bags of groceries using the bread basket and cargo slings. We aren’t car-free yet, but this bike has replaced our car for approx 85% of trips. It’s also easier to get the kids out the door because they love the bike, unlike the struggle to wrangle them into carseats. The motor makes Seattle hills no problem. I preferred the stability of the Spicy Curry over other brands, thanks to the large front wheel. I’m not a big person, so the small rear wheel is key in helping me feel comfortable carrying kids and cargo, as they sit lower to the ground. Love this bike!

The spicy curry has been an amazing addition for our family. Our 5 year old loves to climb in the back and hold into the monkey bars to go on daily adventures. We love our bicycle, it is worth every penny.

We bought the Yuba Spicy Curry to replace a car. We are a family of 4 that lives in a city area in Wisconsin. We use the Yuba daily to drop the kids off at school. Also, to get groceries, run an errand and more. We were already driving significantly less in 2020 but this has replaced many trips we would take by car.
BTW: our kids are 10 (70lbs) & 7 (60lbs). Iâm 5â7 and 140lbs. Iâm able to pull them with the help of e-assist. I hope to use it for this whole school year.

The Spicy Curry has been my work horse bike for more than three years now. I gets used for everything. Runs to the store, lumber yard, towing dogs to morning coffee and bagels, towing paddle boards to the lake, going on multi-day camping trips (sometimes with dog in tow) and out to dinner are all accomplished with aplomb. The dogs love it and so do I.
Customizing to meet a variety of needs is a hallmark of Yuba design (had a Mundo Lux prior). For shopping I built a custom deck using Yuba carry on bars and added a trailer hitch Towing a large Igloo cooler and a deck load of supplies from the not so local big box store is a piece of cake.Dual battery pack gives 70 mile range in touring mode and 50 miles in Turbo both with trailer and loads on board.

The Spicy Curry is an excellent bike that we have thoroughly enjoyed since buying it 3 months ago. We use it to take the kids to day care (about 15 km round trip) and playgrounds, etc. The bike easily carries our two kids and their gear. The electric assist provides an impressive amount of power with no problems going up hills (even when fully laden). We live in Queensland and it has taken the sweat out of our family rides (the only person who sweats is who ever draws the short straw and has to ride our other non-electric bike without kids).
Changing gears and assist levels is very easy and intuitive. Rides like a normal bike as the centre of gravity is low due to the small back wheel.
The bike has a nice strong kick stand that is quite stable. Our kids get on and off the bike on their own, preferring the bike to the car.
This bike is so good, we are considering getting another one!! If you are considering a cargo bike for you or your family, I would highly recommend you try a Spicy Curry.

We originally purchased the Electric Supermarche and loved it so much that two days later we purchased the Spicy Curry. Both bikes have been fantastic, but I’ll focus on the benefits of the Spicy Curry. First of all, it’s a blast to ride! The electric assist is super powerful and the bike carries a tremendous amount of cargo, while still remaining incredibly balanced and easy to handle. It feels just like riding a “regular” sized bike. We have 3-year-old and 6-year-old sons who have fallen in love with both of our Yuba bikes. What they especially love about the Spicy Curry is that they get to ride on the back without having to be strapped into a “baby” seat. The add-ons we’ve chosen to upgrade the bike are: bamboo side boards, bamboo deck, two mini soft spots, adjustable monkey bars, and the bread basket. Our sons are big (like 99th percentile big) and they fit perfectly fine together on the back of the bike – with plenty of room to grow. Additionally, we can carry two fully loaded grocery bags in the front bread basket. I should add that I am an averaged sized woman (5’7″) and am not an accomplished rider by any means. This is truly a bike for anyone and easy to ride no matter your skill level. The cargo bikes have become a 100% car replacement for the weekends (unfortunately we can’t use them to commute to work/school as we don’t have adequate bike lanes in our area for longer-range rides – but that’s not the bike’s fault!). The Spicy Curry represented a significant purchase for our family. However, it has been worth every penny. The bike is well-made, beautifully designed, and FUN!!! We actually have to build in a 15 minute “buffer” time to every outing because everyone asks us about the bikes. We’ve even joked that we’ve become unofficial Yuba ambassadors! If you’re one of those people who reads every review, tests out all your options, asks about the user experience, then this bike is for you. Additionally, Yuba’s customer service has been impeccable. Even during the pandemic their response time has been fantastic. If I had any advice to offer, I would definitely recommend purchasing the Spicy Curry (over the non-electric assist version). I have never ridden an electric assist bike before the Yubas, but I will NEVER go back. I can tackle any hill with the bike fully loaded (and remember that I’m totally average!), which makes the upgrade well worth it. Plus, the charge lasts an incredibly long time. And while I’m sure there are serious cyclists who would love to pedal a fully loaded bike on their own power, I am someone who does NOT want to arrive at my destination sweaty and out of breath. đ Buy this bike. You and your kids will love every minute of it!

We live in Rotorua, New Zealand and love the spicy curry. Like it claims it has fully replaced our 2nd car and the kids and adults love it. Our roads are bumpy and lack cycleways, having the large front wheel is ideal to cope with this. Its also very wet here at times. With the kids being so much lower than the rider they sit in the slip stream and barely get any rain on them anyway. Its bloody awesome! We’ve just ticked over 1000kms and have no complaints, just stoke so far!!
Its always so much more enjoyable to take bike to town for jobs and fun rather than the car!
Axelle –
We love our spicy curry a lot, It’s another way to live. I use it to bring my 2 children to school or to the sport activities instead to take my car. I love it.
The only advice I would like to give, is to take the spicy curry with suspensions because it’s very hard for the driver and the kids when you drive on hols.
Megan hinshaw –
Three months into quarantine my family needed adventure back into our lives and the spicy curry was the ticket! Weâve biked almost 500 miles since our purchase and my boys are elated to hop on every time! I know that if we spend a few hours biking the boys will be happy site seeing (ducks, trees, bakery, construction crews and Halloween decorations are a current big hit), and Iâll be happier because I got out for some exercise and a bit of peace!
My youngest (almost 1) screams in his car seat but loves getting on the bike – currently using the peg perego Orion front seat but nearly ready to move to the back on a yepp seat! My older son (3) happily reads books and eats snacks in his yepp seat! There were doubts about the purchase but now I wish Iâd done it sooner, staying at home has never been so fun!
Elga Tinger –
Great bike, has so many options, it is super versatile and will grow with your family. I have used 2 Yepp seats and towed a trailer with 2 kids, just like a bicycle minivan. I use it daily for all types of trips. Just wished I had it custom ordered and the fork tube not cut flush, a higher handlebar position would be ideal (Make sure you do the same when ordering). The newer model AT with the front suspension would be nice with all the potholes, I wish they had a retrofit suspension fork for the older models. A kinekt 2.0 suspension seat post option wouldn’t be bad either from the factory (Get one, it helps!). Tried the thudbuster, but its not the same. A must have is the bread basket add on, you will want one. Going to be upgrading to monkey bars this Spring, kiddo is getting bigger. The reality is that mine is a 2018, and a lot of the smaller issues I have are due to buying an older model year. The current gen has most of the kinks taken out and seems closer to perfect with the 2020 gen 4 Bosch, which gives you speed and torque.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my spicy curry. It’s the best bike. I use it almost every day and I can carry so much on it. I love the motor because then I can really carry a lot but not be in a flop sweat – and it’s hilly where I live too. I carried 50 pounds of dog food and a bunch of groceries just the other day. Thank you Yuba!!
Claire –
We absolutely love our spicy curry! We’ve been using it almost daily for about two months with our 1 year old and 3 year old on the back. It’s fun for all of us to ride and I enjoy using it solo as well. I tested several different electric cargo bikes and did a deep dive on reviews and research and I’m so glad we chose this one!
Tim Roller –
My Yuba Spicy Curry is the most awesome bike Iâve ever owned. Iâve been riding bikes all of my life, but this bike canât compare to any biking experiences. I bought this bike for traveling up the coastline to Malibu from where I live in Santa Monica, camping trips and party adventures. Yes!!! This is the bike for me.
Also, I must mention that Yubaâs customer service is TOP notch!
Leah Mahoney –
This bike is not only fun to ride, but a serious hauler!! If we lived in a climate that didnât have harsh winters, this would definitely replace our second car! We enjoy the remainder of the year hauling groceries and kids around town!
Delaney (verified owner) –
This bike is SO much fun! I love biking my kids around town on my Spicy Curry. Best purchase ever!
Jacob Nelson –
Iâve had this bike for 3 years/3000 miles now and absolutely love it. It replaced a second car for us, and we get all around town with it. Our daughter (1 year old when we initially purchased) loves riding in it. The seat easily adjusts, so it is a comfortable ride for both my partner (5â 5â) and me (6â 1â). With yearly maintenance, it currently rides as nicely as it did when we bought it.
Louanne Dempsey –
I couldnât leave a review for the sweet curry, so I am leaving the review under its electric version, the spicy curry.
This bike is awesome! It is a joy to ride. I love the cargo capacity to haul people and stuff and the handle bars are so comfortable for longer bike rides. I am looking forward to riding this around town and down town with my youngest child all summer long.
I love the bright orange color and people compliment me about it all of the time. I would recommend this bike over and over again!

A few weeks after I received my Spicy Curry, I received a request from Yuba to submit a review. I usually ignore these review requests, but in this case I will not because the product is so good. This bike is amazing. I use it to go on daily rides with my 14-month-old daughter and she absolutely loves it. I can’t think of a single thing I would change other than perhaps adding turn signals. It is enjoyable to ride, smooth even without shocks, solid and gives a feeling of control and security, which is exactly what I was looking for in a kid carrier. I appreciate the attention to detail in the safely features such as the chain guard, wheel covers and very stable kickstand. One very small issue is that the spokes are so close together on the rear wheel that it was hard to get my pump to connect. This is a result of the super-strong wheel construction. Thank you Yuba!
Jonathan –
Really enjoying the Spicy Curry V3. Previously rode and still ride a non-electric Boda Boda. I have 2 kids, ages 6 and 2, 45 and 38 pounds each. The low cargo base and electric assist on the Spicy Curry make it possible for my wife to ride comfortably and confidently with both kids. I like the new bosch cargo line motor with the large chainring. This newer model also allows the monkey bars to be setup at a larger size. Kids enjoy and both seem comfortable. Only thing missing is a second battery option. So far put about 130 miles on it in the two weeks we’ve owned it. Been great for quick rides or long rides with the kids and grocery shopping. Looking forward to many years on it.
