Never thought I’d see myself on one of these but Im loving every minute of it. I live in a hilly area. Im able to make it up the hills with 2 boys on back without any issue. Battery lasts a surprisingly long time. You will run out of steam before it does. Great purchase!

very comfortable ride. Using this as a commuter and getting groceries, near and far. My other bikes are gathering more dust as I always grab the ebike, even for a short leisure ride. I dont have small kids to shuttle though I did buy the monkey bars because I thought I could fit a basket in it. Nope. I now mounted a milk crate on the back so I can quickly put in a backpack or grocery bags.
The setting for pedal assist could be more user friendly and be made part of the handlebar instead of a separate small push button.
also – I cant find any user manual except for some very general articles.

We use it almost every day for short trips to the grocery store, and taking the kids to the pool. I even was able to strap the box it came in on the back and take it to the recycling center. Great enhancement to our family life!

I’d been searching for an electric cargo bike for a while–I wanted something large enough to haul two kids and gear for commuting daily to work, but didn’t like the way larger long-tails handled. I wanted something I could maneuver easily that didn’t feel like a motorcycle. The Kombi is perfect! My two-year old loves zipping around on the back and I have ridden it daily since it arrived. We assembled it at home and didn’t run into many issues (though my husband did accidentally squirt brake fluid out while fiddling with the calipers resulting in a trip to the bike shop for a bleed kit and new fluid, but hey, we all learned a lot). Long story short, I love this bike. We recently sold a car and are now managing with just one vehicle and this bad boy for our family. I love it!

Great little electric assist cargo bike! I wanted a long tail bike now that we have two kids, but didn’t want to break the bank on a full size one. The Kombi E5 has been a great option. Right now (while the little one is too young for a seat) it’s just been the one kid on the back, but he loves going for rides. Easy to maneuver, charges quickly, and one charge lasts several rides.
I would say, it may not fit two larger kids in child seats with a (relatively) large adult driver. I put the child seat on the forward rack position and my feet (about 6′ tall, size 13 shoe) would clip his feet (large 3 year old, 40lbs) when I pedaled. So I had to shift the seat back, which might make adding a second child seat behind a little cramped. But I figure by the time the baby is in a child seat the big guy can sit on a Soft Spot and hold on to some handlebars.
Overall, the bike is excellent. The Shimano STEPS system is exactly what I wanted. Seamless assist that doesn’t feel like a motorcycle. I am an avid cyclist and ride with it in the middle setting most of the time. Drive unit is very quiet, I essentially cannot hear it at all. But there were a couple creaks if I really stomped on it, I tightened up the bolts holding the drive unit to the frame and they seem to have cleared up. Nice component selection and build quality. It did arrive with a few paint chips/rubs I could see happened during shipping, but it also arrived with a small bottle of touch up paint! Not expected, but very nice. Mine came with Schwalbe Big Ben Plus tires, not Maxxis Hookworms. Not a big deal, but I do love Maxxis tires.
Easy to set up; typical bike assembly required. I think the hardest part was putting on the Deflopilator. Then adjusted the seat, grips, and brake levers and was off. I did swap the seat, but that’s a personal preference thing. I gave the Yuba seat to a relative (they like a bigger seat than me).
Definitely recommend it and I try to get everyone to take it for a spin. They all love it too!

Great bike. Super practical, fun to ride, solidly built with good accessories. Use it for shopping and transporting me and my 3-year-old. She loves it, and makes it easy to get up and down Seattle’s hills and still make it to work without needing a shower and change of clothes!
Use it every day, keeps me out my car most days of the week.

We own a restaurant and have a one year old and this bike is perfect for carting our child or/and stuff for the shop. We live in an area with moderate hills and the bike just motors right in up them. It is lovely to run errands and not fight for parking + you get some fresh air and exercise!
I actually hate when I have to use my car— which is a lot less often with this bike.

This is a great bike for our family. It comfortably fits both our young kids on the back. Fantastic for short rides around town, and we’ve done a few longer rides. Very solid and well put together. The whole family loves it, it definitely exceeded our expectations.

We love our Yuba! We bought it because we wanted to haul our kiddo around, and went back and forth on this or just putting a baby seat on our current bike. I am so glad we went for it. The Kombi feel so much sturdier and safer, and our kiddo LOVES it. She is in the Thule seat but we added the monkey bars which she loves to hang on to.
Assembly was our only complaint – we had to home assemble since all Yuba carriers were hours away. It was mostly fine, but the instructions are not super detailed and we had leftover hardware which is always concerning. Also the kickstand came with the wrong mount, but they are shipping us the right one.
Overall very happy with our purchase!!

My family loves this bike! We got rid of one of our cars, and Kombi is our new neighborhood vehicle. The bike handles two kids and all of their stuff with ease. Very happy with our purchase.

I love our bike, but….we’ve had constant problems with the motor since we got it a few months ago. The motor stopped working and it was over a month process and 4 trips back and forth with the local bike shop to figure it out and get the parts for it to be replaced. Even now, the motor works, but about every third time I turn it on the power buttons on the consul dont work and I have to turn the battery on and off to get it to work. I’ve given up and resorted to living with this problem. I also just had to take the bike back to the shop to get the lights working. Small thing too, the black knobs on the kickstand fell off within the first month too. Its been super sad and frustrating to have spent so much on the bike to have so many issues.
At the end of the day though it is great to have the bike and my kids (2 and 6) LOVE riding on it. We use it all of the time and when it is working the assist makes a huge difference.

I’ve wanted a cargo bike like this this for years and it’s even better than I thought. Cruising around town is a blast with the kid and there’s always front row parking at the museum now and everywhere we go. The pedal assist makes hauling groceries and what not a breeze. It’s great!

The Kombi E5 is perfect for adventuring with a kids.
The assist allows me to conserve my energy and haul a loaded bike up (and down) hills and levee roads without burning out.
Comfortably fits my 3yo and 7yo on the back without feeling too top heavy. The short wheelbase (as compared to other cargo bikes I’ve tried) is significantly easier for me to handle at 5’ 3”.
Longest trip so far was 22 miles (mostly flat) and I had 3 of 5 bars remaining.

We’ve had this bike for a few months, and, while it took me a little getting used to since I’d never ridden an electric or cargo bike before and it’s a lot heavier than my regular bike, now I’m so glad we went ahead and got it, and were able to avoid getting a car!
The electric assist comes on really smoothly and in a non-scary way, and makes hauling a toddler and a big load of groceries uphill a piece of cake.
We actually trimmed an inch off of the seat post so that I could more solidly put my feet on the ground, but with that minor adjustment, it’s a very comfortable fit for either me (5’2″) or my husband (6’2”), which I think is pretty impressive.

I’ve now put 1700km on my Kombi E5, and I I have a lot of thoughts about it — mostly good. My review is probably 4.5 stars but I rounded up to 5. 🙂
The good: it’s quiet, it feels very natural to ride, it’s strong and sturdy, it’s smooth and feels stable. I enjoy the ride every time and my 3 year old is always happy to hop on too. It has replaced a lot of car trips for us. It’s compact enough to fit into our shed and it feels like a good compromise between value and quality. The ability to stand it up on its back end comes in very handy for basic maintenance.
The less-good: It REALLY needs a proper back fender. The wheel cover does NOT cut it and I’ve had to makeshift something out of a kid’s bike fender — way less than ideal but absolutely necessary in a wet and muddy climate. I wouldn’t mind a little more juice in the engine and a little more longevity in the battery. It meets my needs but if I had 2 bigger kids, or more hills to climb, I’d need more. The tires it comes with are not great and I just had to replace the back one after repeated flats. The seat tends to slide down in the seat post unless it’s done up absurdly tightly.
If you are looking for a compact cargo bike for mostly one child, and you don’t mind having to sometimes get a workout on hills, the Kombi E5 is pretty great and I have no regrets about our purchase!

I love my e-cargo bike!!!!! I can now take my child to the park, to run some errands, to her dance class without using my car. It feels great to get some fresh air and my heart pumping while going about my day to day life!

I love my Kombi E5!! Since I purchased in mid-April, I have replaced over 270 car miles with this bike to date as part of my personal 2030 climate goals. I use it to: pick up groceries; ride out to the suburbs from the city to pick up orders at big box stores; go to the garden store and bring home huge bags of compost; and ride farther in one day than I usually would (25+ commuter miles). When I arrive at the office, I am not too sweaty and if it is really hot at the end of the day ride, I do not wilt. I take the longer way home to stay on my favorite bike trails. This bike is a game changer for getting back to a car free life!!

I don’t typically write reviews but I love my Kombi E5! We’ve had it for two months now and primarily use it to transport a kindergartener to school and for joy rides on weekends. 77 car miles replaced to date. I really appreciate that if feels like riding a normal bike, and just feels like you have extra strong legs when using the e-assist. It’s very stable but you do have to remind little ones not to lean suddenly from side to side. The bike is so fun!

The Kombi E5 absolutely RIPS! Run, don’t walk, and get yours today. It’s our daily driver handling the work commute, daycare drop-off/pick-up, grocery trips, weeknight beer gardens, you name it. I’m 6’2” and my wife 5’9” and the bike accommodates us both seamlessly. 500+ miles in and we couldn’t be happier with our decision.
